Xiaoxiawan Wetland is located in the south of Jinting Town, Ecological Island of Taihu Lake. It was completed in 2021, with wetland area of 15.5 ha. It is a conservation wetland for controlling non-point source pollution. The project has been in operation since 2021, and contributes 2.2 million tons of clean water every year, with water quality superior to level III of Environmental Quality Standards for Surface Water (GB 3838-2002, CODCr≤20mg/L, NH4+≤1.0mg/L, TP≤0.2mg/L).

     In April 2021, it was listed as national level show case. In July 2021, it was listed as eco-demo project in Jiangsu Province. In 2022, it was selected as one of the top ten innovative cases of ecological environment governance reform in Jiangsu Province. The project is listed as the Ecological Civilization Training Institute and the Communist Party Building Base. Since 2021, Xiaoxiawan project has received more than 50000 visitors. In 2023, three deputy national leaders visited the project site for inspection and all gave full recognition.  The three deputy national level leaders include Zhang Jun (Secretary of the Leading Party Members Group of the Supreme Peoples Court), He Wei (Vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the National Peoples Congress and Chairman of the Chinese Peasants And Workers Democratic Party) and Wu Weihua (Vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the National Peoples Congress and Chairman of the Central Committee of Jiusan Society). On January 19, 2024, Liu Xiaotao, NO1 of Suzhou, inspected the project and pointed out that Xiaoxiawan wetland is a good project. It is necessary to summarize useful experience, continuously improve comprehensive benefits, and solidly do ecological protection and restoration in accordance with the goal of "sustainability, promotability, and replicability".
