Dehua and the German team have successfully applied German high-tech constructed wetlands to the riverbank. The abandoned land on the shore side of the river was used to build wetland. The project serves drainage area of about 78ha with wetland area of 2 ha. The project has been operating since 2018. It has been highly praised by surrounding residents.

    November 2018, Aquarama, magazine in Belgium, published article about the project as the cover report. During the 2019 National  Peoples Congress and Chinese Peoples Political Consultative Conference, the then Suzhou Mayor Li Yaping shared this project with the media as a show case of Suzhous construction of a beautiful and livable hometown.
